Zvejniekciema vidusskola

I went to Zvejniekciema vidusskola in Latvia for a week. It was little different than in Finland. We had shoes also inside the school. There lessons was only 40 minutes and in Finland they are 45 minutes. The school bells were so loud and I always got scared. When we had lunch time we had to pay 1 lat and there was also a kiosk where we could buy something and the pizzas were very good!  At the lessons students wrote things to their notebooks and the lessons were like in Finland. I think the Zvejniekciema vidusskola was really nice and everyone was kind and friendly there!(:

Baron Münchhausen

Karl Friedrich Hieronymus von Münchhausen (11 May 1720 – 22 February 1797) was a German. He told many exaggerated stories of war memories. Münchhausen told stories of flying with cannonballs, went to the moon with hot balloon, pulling up himself from swamp and received a ring that makes him invisible. Rudolf Erich Raspe made a book from his stories and it was published in 1785 in London. In Finland the first stories were published in 1856.

The Munchausen’s museum is located in Dunte, it’s 8 km from Saulkrasti.
The reason why museum is at Latvia:

Baron lived 6 happy years at Dunten estate with his wife Jacobin.

Saulkrasti Bicycle Museum

When we were in Saulkrasti, we visited the local bicycle museum. I think it was quite interesting 🙂

The museum was located in the center of Saulkrasti. And if I remember correctly, the owners have found all of the bicycles and renovated them theirselves!

So, there were all kind of bicycles from different decades. I can’t remember how old were the oldest bicycles but you could see that they were very old 😀

The oldest bicycles

And then there were a bit newer things.

There were also these “bicycle logos” or whatever they are called 😀 and a few of them were finnish logos!

On the right I guess there is some chocolate shops’s bike, or something? 😀

Then we was there, was warm day and sunshine. The place was very beautiful and I can think how beautiful that is in summer, when is warm and you can go to swim. There can spend time at summer. Views were very beautiful and nice and that’s why we took a lot of pictures. And of course, there we walked and the same time we look at views. The sea was beautiful and really big. However, the sea was ice still. And there did fly a lot of birds also.

Saulkrasti’s motto is: “The town closer to the Sun. Town which carries the name of the Sun”.

Statue of Liberty

I’m writing about Latvia’s statue of liberty.

Latvia’s Statue of liberty has been made in 20th century. The girl who is standing on the top of the statue is Mildan, the Godness of freedom. Mildan is holding three stars in her hands. Those are the symbols of the areas called Kurzeme, Vidzeme and Latgale. At the foot of the statue there are sculutures that symbolise different values:Working, nation strength, mental power, freedom and family. two soldiers are standing near of the statue on the daytime on guard of honor in front of Statue of liberty. during the soviet union time it was not allowed to put flowers in front of statue. The statue of liberty is one of the most famous places in Latvia.
